SCLERAL LENSES

Scleral lenses are larger than regular contact lenses that are used to restore the ocular surface in conditions that do not respond to other treatments and in people who cannot obtain good vision and comfort with glasses or conventional contact lenses.

These lenses are custom made for each patient and are fitted in a way to vault the cornea and maintain a constant reservoir of fluid between the lens and the cornea to ensure that it remains hydrated. More over, this fluid layer also compensates for the surface irregularities, leading to improved vision. Scleral lenses are extremely high in oxygen permeability and provide the comfort of a soft lens with higher optical quality. Most patients will have no sensation or awareness of the lenses while wearing them.

Scleral contact lens designs currently available are considered the best option on the market to provide increased ocular health benefits and remarkable comfort. These lenses eliminate blurred and distorted vision, promote healing of the ocular surface and protect the cornea from the surrounding environment and eyelids. We are passionate about creating custom made scleral lenses that have the potential to change the patient’s quality of vision and quality of life. We are on a mission to keep doing this with the highest level of professionalism and continuously update our expertise in the area of contact lens design, thereby providing our patients with the latest lens technology and the best solution for their signs and symptoms.

Examples of conditions treated with scleral lenses:
- Dry Eye Syndrome
- Chemical and burn injuries
- Keratoconus and ectasia
- Corneal degenerations and dystrophies
- Eyelid abnormalities
- Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
- Sjogren’s Syndrome
- Corneal ectasia and other complications from LASIK
- Post-corneal transplant
- Radial Keratotomy (RK)

CORNEAL REFRACTIVE THERAPY

Paragon corneal refractive therapy, or simply Paragon CRT, is a non-surgical refractive therapy. The lens technique was first approved by the Food and Drug Administration in January 2002 for overnight wear. The revolutionary lenses, also known as Orthokeratology or Ortho K lenses, are worn at night, and once you wake up, you take them out and your vision can be enhanced.

Benefits of the non-surgical - CRT procedure include:
- Sharper Vision
- Eliminates Use of Glasses or - Contact Lenses
- No More Dry Eyes from Long - Contact Wear
- Diminishes Worry of Losing -- Glasses or Lenses

This non-surgical refractive therapy alleviates the pain of wearing glasses or contact lenses during the day. This procedure is especially popular with athletes because daytime corrective lenses may hinder their performance. As a Paragon CRT Certified Eye Care professional, I want to make your life easier by providing you excellent vision correction therapy. Make an appointment with today by calling.
